The churros will fry, the beer will flow and music will fill the air above the Whittier Narrows Recreational Area in South El Monte. In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, five Spanish-language radio stations, including KLVE-FM, have joined forces to produce the 11th Budweiser Cinco de Mayo Fest, as great an excuse for a picnic, carnitas and a Frisbee game as any. Giants of Latin pop, ranchera, norteno and bolero will perform all day, including Christian Castro, Pablo Montero, Mariachi Sol de Mexico, Los Tri-O, Son by 4 and this year’s headliner, Joan Sebastian. Children’s activities include rides and a pinching--er, petting--zoo.

* Budweiser Cinco de Mayo Fest, Sunday at the Whittier Narrows Recreational Area, 60 Freeway at Rosemead Boulevard, South El Monte. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free admission. (626) 568-0902.
