What’s happening the next few weeks:
* “American Modern, 1925-1940: Design for a New Age” runs May 16 thorugh Jan. 7 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Ave. The exhibition features 150 objects--furniture, clocks, radios, above, lamps, created by the first generation of American industrial designers. The show is complemented by “A Century of Design, Part II: 1925-1950,” which focuses on European design and ends Oct. 29. (212) 535-7710.
* “Dirty Blonde” opened Monday at the Helen Hayes Theatre, 240 W. 44th St. The new play by Claudia Shear, directed by James Lapine, is about two single New Yorkers who first meet at the grave site of Mae West.
