Man Gets Life Term for Two Murders

Share

A reported associate of the Mexican Mafia was sentenced Friday to life in prison. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge William Pounders sentenced Arthur Ramirez Grajeda for the July 1997 murders in San Pedro of an alleged drug dealer and the dealer’s bodyguard.

Grajeda asked Pounders for a new trial after co-defendant Ruben Perez Gomez said that he had no involvement with the shootings of Robert Dunton and Robert Acosta, said Scott MacCabe, Grajeda’s attorney.

Perez was sentenced to death in March for four murders, including those of Dunton and Acosta. Pounders denied Grajeda’s request for a new trial because he determined Perez was not a credible witness, MacCabe said.

Grajeda continues to deny his involvement with the Mexican Mafia and the murders. He still has the option of appealing the case, MacCabe said.
