Wildman to Run for City Council

Assemblyman Scott Wildman (D-Los Angeles) announced Friday that he has decided to run for the 13th District seat on the Los Angeles City Council when incumbent Jackie Goldberg leaves office next year.

Wildman filed papers Thursday with the city Ethics Commission to begin raising money for the race, which features four other declared candidates.

“I’ve done a lot of work with Los Angeles and have a special relationship with the constituents in this area,” said Wildman, whose Assembly district includes parts of Burbank and Glendale, but also includes 25% of the 13th council district.

Wildman lives in the Los Feliz area just outside the council district and would have to move into the 13th District to run.

The assemblyman is likely to face charges of carpetbagging, according to Bennett Kayser, a former elected charter reform commissioner who is also running for the council seat.

“It [residency] is definitely something that will be talked about during the campaign,” Kayser said.

Other candidates who have filed papers to run for the council seat including parts of Hollywood and Silver Lake include Sandra Farrington-Domingue, Conrado Terrazo and Arthur Goldberg, the brother of the current councilwoman.
