Science Center Gives Boost to Local Groups

* Rockwell Science Center announced a series of contributions to local charitable organizations:

Cal Lutheran University Women’s Resource Center--$2,500 for educational materials and programs, staffing and related operational needs.

Interface Children Family Services--$2,500 to support programs for abused children, battered women, high-risk and homeless youth, and families in crisis.

KCLU Public Radio--$2,000 provided during a recent membership drive.

United Way of Ventura County--$10,000 to support 54 health and human service agencies around the county.

Ventura County Superintendent of Schools--$2,000 to support the annual Ventura County Science Fair.

Wellness Community Valley/Ventura--$10,000 to fund programs that provide emotional support and education for people with cancer and their loved ones.

GOP Women Name Winners of Essay Contest

* Camarillo Republican Women Federated announced the winners of its essay contest, which was titled “How I Can Be a Better Citizen.” Betsy Valliant of Los Primeros School and Erin Carr of Las Colinas School each received a cash award.
