LOS ALAMITOS
The City Council will meet tonight to consider making Mike McCrary permanent police chief of Los Alamitos at an annual salary of $100,200. McCrary has been serving in the position for the last 14 months. City staff recommend the hiring because the city has decided not to pursue consolidation of police services with Cypress. Although McCrary initially said he didn’t want the permanent position because he is retired, he has changed his mind and wishes to stay on as chief. The council meets in chambers at 7 p.m. at 3191 Katella Ave. Information: (562) 431-3538, Ext. 220.
