Neutering Pets

Share

* Sandy Driscoll, in her essay on euthanizing animals (Voices, May 6), states that the Senate bill passed last year is to blame for the shelters being overcrowded. I also am a volunteer at a shelter, and I also say let’s put the responsibility squarely where it belongs, and that is on the shoulders of puppy mills, breeders, pet stores and neighbors who think it is so cute to let Missy have a litter. We need to educate the public about the 5 million pets that are euthanized yearly, many of them “pure breeds.”

The Senate bill requires that all shelters must spay and neuter every animal adopted. This one act will greatly help curb the overpopulation problem.
