A resolution to designate a section of Pacific Coast Highway as the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II Memorial Highway received unanimous backing from the City Council last week and is now holding for approval by the state Senate. Pacific Coast Highway through Seal Beach is part of a memorial highway proposed between Huntington Beach and Long Beach. The resolution, which was introduced by Assemblyman Scott Baugh (R-Huntington Beach), notes that the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station is the site of a memorial to the 3,500 servicemen who died on World War II submarines.
