Computer Associates Posts Strong Earnings

Computer Associates International Inc. said its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 20% to $551 million, or $1.13 a share, in line with expectations, as revenue grew 31% to $2.13 billion on solid growth from software products and services. The results exclude the impact of accounting for goodwill tied to the recent acquisition of Sterling Software Inc.
Computer Associates shares closed up $2.56 at $52.06 on the New York Stock Exchange before the earnings report was released.
