An armed man robbed a dry-cleaning business on the far east side of the city Tuesday afternoon and took an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.

The holdup occurred about 3:30 p.m. at Sun’s Cleaners in the 5700 block of Los Angeles Avenue. The robber displayed a handgun and demanded money from cashier James Kim, 32, before taking off on foot, authorities said.

Officers searched the neighborhood by ground and air but did not locate the robber.

The heist was the second armed robbery in the city in two days, authorities said. A Smart & Final about four miles away on Erringer Road was held up Monday afternoon.

“They are somewhat similar, but we don’t know yet if it’s the same guy,” said Simi Valley Police Lt. Andy McCluskey.

No one was injured in either robbery. Police said they do not have a good description of the suspect.
