Walker Named Vice President at Safeco

Claudia G. Walker has been named vice president of Safeco Select Insurance Services in Santa Ana. Walker, who joined Safeco in 1999, is the company’s human resources manager. Before that, she was director of human resources at Sedgwick James in Irvine.

* Tom Hinrichs has been added to the advisory board of Commonwealth Energy Corp. in Tustin. He is president of Pacific Energy Consultants Inc. in Escondido.

* Carrie Carter has been named public relations coordinator at Strahan Advertising Inc. in Santa Ana. She was previously an account coordinator at a high-tech marketing communications firm. In addition, Abe Avila was appointed account coordinator. He was formerly an account coordinator at BDS Marketing in Irvine.

* John Seely Brown has been named to the board of directors of eCatalystOne in Newport Beach. He is chief scientist and corporate vice president of Xerox Corp. and is currently director of Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center.

* James H. Coleman has been appointed senior vice president, business development at Cortex Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Irvine. He had been a consultant to the company for the past year. Coleman was with Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc. for more than 25 years. He was also vice president, commercial development at CoCensys Inc. and president and senior partner of Diversified Healthcare Management Inc.
