Changing China’s Trade Status
* Re “Everyone Benefits If Trade Status Extended,” Ventura County Perspective, May 21.
It seems to me that Ventura County has a lot to gain if Congress approves the upcoming vote on trade with China.
Our high-tech businesses would have a huge new market to sell into, our farmers would be given new export opportunities and we could even ship those products from our own Port of Hueneme. It sounds like a great chance to pump up our economy.
Other countries around the world must be preparing to dive into China. It seems silly that Congress might let these foreigners win and leave our own businesses and workers out in the cold by shutting off our access to more than a billion people.
I hope Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) jumps on board.
