SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

One of the hottest off-Broadway shows running comes to Las Vegas this summer. “De La Guarda,” part rave, carnival, rock concert and theater, lands at the Rio in late June.

Also coming up next month, Evander Holyfield will fight John Ruiz at Caesars Palace on June 10.

Radio station KKLZ-FM hosts the annual JuneFest at Silver Bowl Park on June 3. Headliners scheduled for the daylong event include Sammy Hagar, George Thorogood, Pat Benatar, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company, Grand Funk Railroad’s Mark Farner and BTO. For ticket information call (888) 464-2468.

The city’s infatuation with motion simulator rides continues with ReBoot: The Ride, a four-minute adventure through a cyber city at Circus Circus. The new Imax motion simulator “RideFilm” joins the Fun House Express RideFilm in a complex now called the Imax RideFilm Cineplex.

Get a taste of Las Vegas at the 10th annual Epicurean Affair 2000, where about 60 Vegas restaurants and resorts whip up their specialties, at the Rio’s new Pavilion. Other attractions include the Iron Chef Demonstrations, a cigar lounge and dancing to a deejay.

Also new at the Rio is the Pavilion Theatre, which officially opened last weekend with “Footloose the Musical.”

Caesars Palace Court and Bacchanal restaurants and the Palace Court Terrace lounge have all closed to make way for new construction. The Circus Maximus Showroom will close after its Sept. 3 show to make way for even more new construction.
