Sesame Street Live’s latest touring production, “Big Bird’s Sunny Day Camp Out,” will set up shop in Thousand Oaks through the weekend. The show, which opens today, features another high-energy performance by some familiar faces--Elmo, Cookie Monster, Telly Monster, Zoe, Bert and Ernie, The Count, Oscar the Grouch and others. The fast-paced production uses singing, dancing and audience participation to convey messages about the fun of learning, reading and friendship.

Bayou

The 11th annual Cajun Creole Music Festival in Simi Valley will move to bigger digs this year to make room for its various accouterments. The weekend-long event will feature children’s activities, a Mardi Gras parade, arts and crafts vendors, and food. Entertainment by Andre Thierry and Zydeco Magic, Lisa Haley and the Zydekats, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, Acadiana and Doug Kershaw.

Concert Series

Conejo Recreation and Park District will begin another season of its summer concert series Monday at Conejo Community Park. The Four Freshmen will perform their jazz vocal works for a Memorial Day fete beginning at 5 p.m. Expect such hits as “Route 66,” “It’s a Blue World” and others.

Classical

The Ojai Music Festival--one of the region’s most respected cultural events--will return to the Libbey Bowl beginning Wednesday. The 54th annual festival will be led by conductor Sir Simon Rattle and artistic director Ernest Fleischmann. Their wide-ranging program will include French music from the first half of the 20th century and recent British works by Thomas Ades and Mark-Anthony Turnage. The genres will range from opera to jazz-inspired orchestral music. The schedule includes performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and New Music Group, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Flux Quartet. Festival artists include Turnage, composer in residence; Heidi Grant Murphy, soprano; Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, mezzo-soprano; Marietta Simpson, mezzo-soprano; John Aler, tenor; and Gloria Cheng, piano.
