A civil-court jury Wednesday rejected sexual harassment claims brought by a former trainee police officer against the Costa Mesa Police Department, authorities said.

The unanimous verdict brings to an end the second of three sexual harassment lawsuits filed against the agency in 1997, said Costa Mesa police Chief David L. Snowden. The first suit was dropped about six weeks ago, he said.

June Ann Romine and two other officers alleged that male officers asked them about their sexual orientation, commented on their anatomy, asked them out on dates and retaliated when they complained to supervisors.

But Snowden said internal and outside probes found no evidence to support the claims.
