Gunmen Kill 5 in Restaurant During Robbery
Gunmen walked into a Wendy’s restaurant just before it closed Wednesday night and fatally shot five people during an apparent robbery, police said. Two other people were injured.
Authorities believe the shooting in the Flushing section of Queens was the result of a robbery, said Lt. Cory Cuneo, a police spokesman. The victims appeared to have been tied up and shot in the basement.
Cuneo said an unknown number of gunmen entered the restaurant just before its scheduled closing time of 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Five people were fatally shot and two others were taken to a hospital, Cuneo said. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.
