Van Nuys 4, Bell 3--Juan Romo hit a two-run double in the second inning to give the Wolves a 4-1 lead at Bell.

Van Nuys (10-20) took a 1-0 lead in the first when pinch-runner Jake Ochoa scored from third on a fielder’s choice.

The Wolves extended their advantage to 2-0 when Shane Mochizuki scored from second after a throwing error by Bell’s shortstop.

Edgar Del La Cueva and Steven Burton each had two hits for Van Nuys. Del La Cueva picked up his second save of the playoffs.

Starter Alfredo Avila (3-4) gave up three hits and three runs--two unearned--in 4 2/3 innings.

University 7, North Hollywood 3--Edgar Robles had two hits and two RBIs for North Hollywood, but the rest of the Huskies struck out nine times and managed only four hits in a loss at University.

North Hollywood (15-17) led, 3-1, after 5 1/2 innings, but University took command with two three-run home runs in the sixth inning.

Both home runs cleared the right-field fence, which is only 250 feet away.

Pitchers Erick Melera (1-2) and Adrian Menchaca gave up the decisive home runs.
