35th District Assembly Race

Share

* It is time the extremism of our Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) and state Sen. Jack O’Connell (D-San Luis Obispo) be exposed. They continue to support very radical social legislation without local parents’ awareness.

For example AB 1785, just one among many such bills supported by these two, recently signed by Gov. Gray Davis, under the guise of “human relations” and “hate crime” reporting would teach appreciation and approval of homosexual and bisexual behavior to schoolchildren as early as kindergarten in an attempt to shape their “attitudes.” The bill would criminalize the free speech of those who dissent.

The attitudes about human sexuality officially sanctioned in this bill violate the consciences of many people in our district and the teaching of most religions.

It is without apology that I object to this statist trampling on guarantees of freedom of speech and religious liberty in America. But even more adamantly I defend a family’s self-determined obligation to have God direct their attitudes in this matter and not Jackson and O’Connell.

Our state coffers are bloated beyond belief--with our money. California has a $15 billion surplus. Two-thirds of the money belongs to our communities. Our local property tax has been taken by the state every year since 1992 and will continue to be taken unless this theft is stopped by legislation.

Robin Sullivan is running for the 35th Assembly District seat to bring our tax dollars back where they belong: our communities. Being a councilwoman and former mayor of Santa Paula, Sullivan knows how much these funds are needed. You, the taxpayer, also know.

Why should Sacramento have a surplus it will not return to our communities? The answer is, our current Assemblywoman and the Democratic Party majority want the state to have control of our tax dollars. We need Robin Sullivan to represent the 35th Assembly District and work to repeal the legislation which confiscated our money.
