NEWPORT BEACH

Haydn wrote his famous Cello Concerto in D for Anton Kraft, principal cellist of the Esterhazy Orchestra. For a while, Kraft was actually considered the composer of this sunny work. But a rediscovery of the original manuscript proved the piece is Haydn’s. Timothy Landauer, principal cellist of the Pacific Symphony, will play the Concerto in D with the Mozart Classical Orchestra led by founder, Ami Porat. The program also will include Kodaly’s “Marosszek Dances” and Haydn’s Symphony No. 55.

Pop Music

It’s a coincidence. The only pop hit for Richie Havens was his 1971 version of the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun,” and now he’s booked at the Sun Theatre. His performances remain intensely energetic more than 30 years after he electrified the audience at Woodstock. He’s billed here with fellow Woodstock alumnus Arlo Guthrie.

* Richie Havens, Arlo Guthrie, Sun Theatre, 2200 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim. 8:30 p.m. $35. (714) 712-2700.
