Brandon Zucker, the 4 1/2-year-old boy critically injured last month in an accident at Disneyland, has been moved from the intensive care unit at UCI Medical Center in Orange, a hospital official confirmed Wednesday.

The boy, who suffered brain damage in a Sept. 22 fall from Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, was transferred to a pediatric ward on Monday, hospital officials said. He had been in intensive care for more than five weeks.

“His condition really hasn’t changed,” hospital spokeswoman Kim Pine said Wednesday. “He’s going to be moved to a long-term care facility eventually.”

The boy suffered brain damage after he fell from the ride, becoming pinned underneath another ride car for an estimated 10 minutes. It is unclear how long the boy went without oxygen.

Hospital officials would not comment on the extent of the brain damage or the results of an MRI scan, at the request of Brandon’s parents, who live in Canyon Country in northern Los Angeles County.
