Audition Scheduled for Student Movie

Actors are being sought to audition for an upcoming short film to be produced by film and television production students at Oxnard College.

Those selected will be paid for their work, but the amount of pay for the cast and crew will be determined after funding from sponsors is received, said student filmmaker Stephan Alcantar. He and other Oxnard College students are members of the same production class. They produce their films under the title World Class Inc., a student production group founded by Alcantar.

“We just completed the production script about 10 days ago and we’re ready to begin the auditions for actors and actresses to play the parts,” Alcantar said.

The short film will deal with prejudice in everyday life and will require participation by a mix of white, Latino and other minority actors, he said.

“Our objective was to give a complete picture of situations that are very real and are based on real-life experience, but, at the same time, are presented in a dramatic way,” Alcantar said.

Auditions begin at 11 a.m. today in Room LA-6 at Oxnard College, 4000 Rose Ave.

If this morning’s audition doesn’t draw enough people, it will be continued by appointment only until all the acting roles are filled.
