Free Home Safety Services Offered

Share

Home Secure, a nonsectarian program of Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, will offer free home safety and security services for qualified Thousand Oaks residents, thanks to funding it obtained from the city this summer.

The program helps people install a number of items in their homes, including grab bars for bathroom safety, hand-held shower hoses, adjustable shower chairs, nonslip treads, deadbolt locks, entry locks, peepholes and window and patio door locks.

The City Council in May approved a $6,500 Community Development Block Grant to Home Secure, and the program received the funding in July, city officials said.

Renters and homeowners of any age may qualify for services if their incomes do not exceed $35,150 as an individual or $40,150 as a couple, with the limit increasing with additional household members.

Applicants may request any of the services.

Service delivery will depend on the availability of funding, organization officials said.
