At 88, Laguna Beach Armpit Noise Artist Even More Impressive

Share

When I mentioned folks with oddball stunts listed in the 2001 Guinness World Records book, this column was headlined: “Very Impressive, But Can They Make Noises With Their Armpits?”

Well, I received a call from Grayce Webster of Laguna Beach, who declared: “I can make noises with my armpits.” She said she may have learned how from her six brothers, though she can’t be certain because it’s been a while since she was a girl. She’s 88 but has lost none of her skill at this rare art.

Breaking a rule of journalism, I took Webster at her word, requesting no demonstration.

DRINK TOO MANY OF THESE AND YOU GO INTO A SPIN CYCLE: Customers at Nic’s Restaurant in Beverly Hills sometimes sound as if they’re ordering a handyman rather than a drink.

That’s because the eatery offers the Maytag Repairman: Belvedere vodka served with olives stuffed with Maytag bleu cheese.
