It’s fall here, but don’t expect an Easterner to take that with a straight face. Our leaves do change color, some of them, and do hit the ground, sometimes in carpets one layer thick. In a place where little rainstorms can merit big headlines, it’s a microseason when erstwhile Easterners who are now Westerners can feel those distant roots twitching.
