* Concert--The Sings Like Hell concert series at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara will continue Saturday with the Bay Area-based Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks. The group plays a gypsy-jazz-jug-band blend that zips along at a snappy tempo. Singer-songwriter Chris Stills will open the show at 8 p.m. The theater is at 33 E. * Photography--The Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum will open Saturday with “Beyond Boundaries: Contemporary Photography in California,” an exhibition of works by 64 artists organized by the Friends of Photography in San Francisco. Through Dec. 17. Reception Saturday, 5-7 p.m. The gallery is on the Arts Terrace at Paseo Nuevo shopping center, Chapala and De la Guerra streets, Santa Barbara. * Words--Speaking of Stories will stage a celebration of Jewish Book Month on Sunday at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. Canon Perdido St. Elliot Gould, who was scheduled to appear at the event, will instead be shown via video reading from Bernard Malamud’s “Spring Rain.” Other featured works: Grace Paley’s “The Loudest Voice,” read by Nancy Kawalek; Woody Allen’s “The Kugelmass Episode,” read by George Backman; Cynthia Ozick’s “The Shawl,” read by Iris Bahr. * Flamenco--Noche Flamenca, an acclaimed flamenco company from Spain, will perform twice at UC Santa Barbara’s Campbell Hall. Show times: Tuesday-Wednesday, 8 p.m. The audience at Tuesday’s concert will be invited to stay after the show for a meet-the-artists discussion. $13-$25. 893-3096.
