The Utah-based Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company will perform an installment of the Performances to Grow On series Friday in Thousand Oaks. Dancers in “Circle Cycle” will use hoops, balls, scarves, spoken word and more than 200 slides to create visual vignettes on such topics as growing up, homelessness and the environment.

Classical Voices

The Ojai Camerata, under the direction of Bill Wagner, will present a pair of concerts this weekend in Ojai. Featured in the performances will be a world premiere of Emma Lou Diemer’s “Mass,” which was commissioned by the vocal troupe. Other program highlights: “Songs for Baritone and Cello” by John Biggs, plus works by Gregoria Allegri, Paul Caldwell and Gustav Holst.

A Cappella

The all-female Channelaire Chorus will present its annual show, “The Musical Mystery Tour,” this weekend at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. The production features an original script that incorporates a wide variety of songs, including “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Be Back Soon” and “Friend Like Me.” Performing will be quartets, double quartets and the more than 100-voice chorus.

Celluloid

The Ojai Film Festival will kick off Wednesday and continue through Nov. 19 at several venues. Titled “Horizons Lost and Found: Enriching the Human Spirit Through Film,” the event will screen documentaries on international political conflicts and hate crimes, and will include comedies, horror films, shorts and more. There will also be workshops attended by industry professionals, a youth film festival and celebrity receptions.
