Eastern Sierra

The general trout season is over, but Pleasant Valley Reservoir and the Lower Owens River remain open to fishing. At the reservoir, a fluctuating water level is keeping the trout moving, and the river leading into it is the best bet. On the Lower Owens, the flow is about 200 cubic feet per second but bait and fly-fishermen are enjoying much better action, on both the regular and wild-trout sections. Streamer patterns are best for fly-fishermen. The Owens River Gorge is productive but difficult to wade because of increased flows.
