Snow Dusts Hills, Temperature Falls to 38

Share

The first snowfall of the season dusted mountaintops in Ventura County on Friday as unstable atmosphere triggered hit-and-miss rainfall across the region.

Meteorologists also reported an unofficial record low early Friday morning, with temperatures dropping to 38 degrees in some mountain areas in the county.

Breezes and cooler temperatures are expected to continue today, with winds up to 20 mph, and highs in the low 60s along the coast and in the upper 50s to low 60s in mountain areas.

Overnight, temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 30s to mid-40s across the county, said Curt Kaplan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Oxnard. A slight chance of scattered showers is also forecast, he added.

Sunday should bring warmer weather and sunny skies, with daytime temperatures expected to hit the high 60s, Kaplan said.
