Toshiba Unit Puts Harrington in VP Post

Chris Harrington has been named to the newly created position of vice president, strategy and business development for Toshiba America Information Systems in Irvine. Harrington joined the Telecommunication Systems division of Toshiba in 1997 as vice president, business planning. Before that, he spent almost two decades with AT&T; in a number of positions.

John B. Rush has been appointed chief operating officer of Micro Therapeutics Inc., an Irvine-based medical device company. He had been executive vice president of marketing and sales.

Jewel Pugh has been named vice president of sales and marketing for the Travel Store Inc.’s Irvine office. She was previously president of Marketing Improvement Concepts, a marketing and communications consulting firm.

Anne Boland Walker has been appointed vice president of sales at the Irvine-based Southern California division of Richmond American Homes. She joined the company in 1996 as sales manager and was later named senior sales manager.

Michael Romano is the new vice president of marketing for the Meyers Group in Irvine. He was previously vice president of marketing at WWW.com. Before that, he was vice president of sales and marketing at Moss Software and vice president of sales and marketing at ARV Assisted Living.

Dean Smith, Darin Yonemura, Sandra Bertola, James Salazar and Steven Norman have been appointed to the Pacific Southwest Tax Services group of Deloitte & Touche in Costa Mesa. Smith and Yonemura are tax managers specializing in consulting. Bertola and Salazar are new tax seniors focusing on consulting, and Norman is a new tax senior in the Multistate Group, specializing in sales and use tax.

Chung-Mau Cheng has joined Shafer Advertising & Public Relations in Irvine as art director. Cheng had been art director for Winward/Cooley in Phoenix.

* Leilani Smith has been appointed director of public relations for IPNet Solutions Inc. in Newport Beach. Prior to joining IPNet, Smith was senior vice president of public relations for the T&O; Group. She also held marketing positions at Conner Peripherals, Advanced Micro Devices and Western Micro Technology.

Joseph C. Horchak has joined Melles Griot Inc. in Irvine as director of sales. He was formerly vice president of sales and marketing at Avimo Precision Polymer Optics.

David Pallmann has been appointed to the newly created position of chief technology officer for NQL Inc. in Santa Ana. Pallmann is the inventor of NQL’s flagship product, Network Query Language, and has served in various executive and management positions at the company since 1993.

Dieter F. Schneider has been7 named director of destination services at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Dana Point. He joined the hotel from PRA Destination Management Inc., where he directed the operations of the Orange County and Los Angeles offices and then served as regional leader of Orange County.

Keil D. Maberry has been promoted to senior transportation engineer for Linscott, Law & Greenspan, Engineers in Costa Mesa. He joined the firm in 1997 after serving as a traffic engineer with the city of Pasadena.

James F. Kerins has been appointed vice president of the Miriam Tate Co., a Costa Mesa consulting firm specializing in exterior color and materials specifications for residential, commercial and master-planned buildings. Kerins, who joined the company in 1994, had been project manager.

Gregory D. Goodman, Richard A. Howard and Michael S. McClure have been named partners in the Orange County office of Arthur Andersen in Irvine. Goodman is partner in the e-business consulting group. Howard expands his role with clients in the high-tech, e-business and financial services industries. McClure is in charge of overall supervision of audit engagements for manufacturing, distribution and real estate clients. In addition, Steven E. Blair was named principal in the firm’s Global Portfolio Services unit and Katherine P. Snodgrass was named principal in business process outsourcing.
