Marathons are for wimps. At the first-ever Fogdog 24-Hour Adventure, teams will compete in one really, really long day of kayaking, mountain biking, trail running, rappelling and more. Fox Sports Net will show the competition in January, but you can get a jump on viewing at Leo Carrillo State Beach Friday morning when the contestants start. Other events will be visible from the beach. Winning teams are expected to finish Saturday around 7 a.m., and also Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be an outdoor sports expo.

The California African-American Museum presents “The ‘Reel’ Gordon Parks” in conjunction with its exhibition of “Half Past Autumn: The Art of Gordon Parks.” Parks, best known for his photojournalism, is a modern-day renaissance man who has worked as a filmmaker, novelist, poet and musician. “Reel” features the autobiographical “The Learning Tree,” the original 1971 version of “Shaft,” “Shaft’s Big Score” and seven other films directed by Parks.

Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow star in the romantic drama “Bounce,” by writer-director Don Roos (“The Opposite of Sex”). Affleck plays an advertising man who gives up his seat on a doomed airliner to pursue a fling. In the aftermath of the tragedy, he seeks out the widow (Paltrow) of the man to whom he gave his seat. Tony Goldwyn, Natasha Henstridge and Jennifer Grey co-star.
