The city is now directly responsible for discharges into its drainage system and private storm-drain system within Leisure World.
The San Diego Water Control Board named the city an official National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System city this month. The drainage systems include all street, curbs, gutters and all culverts and pipes used for collecting and routing storm water.
Permitted activities include runoff from landscape irrigation, lawn watering and individual car washing. Unauthorized activities include runoffs from swimming pools, cleaning equipment, trash-bin washing, construction sites, recycling and dumping of any hazardous materials.
