1 of 2 Victims in Kanan Road Crash Identified
A Ventura woman killed in an accident near Agoura Hills earlier this week has been identified, the Los Angles County coroner’s office said Friday.
Deborah Ann McRae, 41, died of blunt head trauma when the sport utility vehicle she was driving swerved off Kanan Road, slammed into a light pole and then into an embankment Wednesday night. The car’s male passenger, who is believed also to be a Ventura resident, has not yet been identified.
Witnesses said the car had been traveling well above the 50 mph speed limit before the crash. McRae and her passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was badly burned and is not expected to be identified until Monday, the coroner’s office said.
The road remained closed Friday afternoon.
Autopsies on the victims will likely be done this weekend. Investigators will conduct toxicology tests to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
