A hostile crowd and the Hoosiers’ disciplined approach were factors, but the Waves must get back to basics against the Gauchos. It will be important for guard Brandon Armstrong to stay out of foul trouble. He picked up his fourth foul early in the second half against Indiana and the Waves fell apart. Forward Kelvin Gibbs, a two-time All-West Coast Conference pick, had 14 points and 11 rebounds. The leading scorer among returners for Santa Barbara (14-14 last season) is sophomore forward Mark Hull (10.3 ppg). Junior forward Adama Ndiaye is out 4-6 weeks after breaking his left ring finger. Pepperdine was 11-1 at home last season and won the last 10.
