Applications for volunteer positions at the Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens are being accepted through Jan. 3.
A four-week training period includes video lectures on local history and environment by professors and authors. Volunteers serve as tour guides through the barns, gardens and adobe ranch house. The training is on Saturday mornings in January. The center is at 6400 Bixby Hill Road, Long Beach. Information: (562) 431-3541.
