Defensive back Charles Woodson of the Oakland Raiders is being sued by a Houston man who contends he was injured in a fight last year at a bar.

Joshua Brown, a former worker at the Daiquiri Factory, filed suit Monday in a Harris County civil court alleging his nose was broken during an attack involving a group of people including Woodson, a Heisman Trophy winner at Michigan and a two-time Pro Bowl selection since becoming the Raiders’ top pick in the 1998 NFL draft.

The suit was not immediately assigned to one of four courts that handle such claims. The courts typically consider cases involving damages of between $500 and $100,000.

Quarterback Scott Mitchell of the Cincinnati Bengals is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of a sprained left knee, the team said. Mitchell, who started in place of Akili Smith against the New England Patriots on Sunday, suffered the injury on the final offensive play of the game. . . . Cornerback Antoine Winfield of the Buffalo Bills will sit out the rest of the season because of a torn muscle in his right shoulder, an injury that has bothered him the last few weeks, the team said. . . . Denver Bronco cornerback Ray Crockett will be sidelined for four weeks after suffering a torn left hamstring in Sunday’s 38-37 victory over the San Diego Chargers.
