5 Christians Reported Killed in Indonesia
Five Christians were killed and 14 injured in a grenade attack Thursday on boats heading for the Indonesian island of Ambon, Roman Catholic missionary news agency MISNA reported.
Attackers used machine guns and hand grenades against six boats carrying Christians to Ambon from Galala, the agency said. There was no immediate confirmation of the incident.
Almost two years of religious war in the Moluccas, or Spice Islands, has killed thousands of Christians and Muslims.
Tens of thousands have fled the fighting in the region, where the population is almost equally divided between the two faiths.
