HUNTINGTON BEACH
The city’s Public Works Department has been chosen by the Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Assn. to receive the 2000 Project of the Year award.
The award, which recognizes outstanding programs in community involvement, rewards efforts to broaden the department’s role in the community, such as starting up the Citizens Infrastructure Advisory Committee, the annual Public Works Open House and the “Heartbeat of Huntington Beach” television series, city officials said.
Public Works Director Robert Beardsley said the city will accept the award, as well as the 2000 Public Works Week award, during a Dec. 14 luncheon.
