City officials will be decorating public artwork at City Hall with black stickers Friday to signify “A Day Without Art.” The event will be held in conjunction with the World Health Organization’s 13th annual World AIDS Day.

“So much artwork will never be created due to the rate that this disease is infecting communities,” said Sian Poeschl, city arts coordinator. “By bringing attention to the artwork, I hope we will bring awareness and compassion to the estimated 33.4 million people . . . living with HIV and AIDS.”

Galleries throughout the city will place posters in their front windows to publicize the event.
