Driver Hurt by City Truck to Get $950,000

The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday approved a $950,000 settlement for a man who was seriously injured two years ago when a city trash truck smashed into his car, pushing it into the center divider on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in Granada Hills.

Officials said the truck that hit Steven Lambson’s vehicle had just been cut off by a van on the rain-slick freeway, causing the truck to skid into Lambson’s car.

Lambson suffered a fractured pelvis and was hospitalized for more than three months. No one else was injured in the crash.

“I felt the case was worth more,” said Lambson’s attorney, Robert Damone. “His medical bills were $330,000. And he may need a hip replacement down the road.”

Lambson, 42, of Colton, has returned to work, Damone said.
