Pacific Sunwear to Get New Offices

Share

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc., retailer of casual clothes for teens and young adults, said Monday it has purchased an undeveloped 19-acre parcel in Anaheim for new corporate offices and a distribution center.

The mall-based retailer, in the midst of an aggressive expansion, paid $12 million. The company said it expects to close escrow on the property in December and open its new offices and distribution center there a year later.

Pacific Sunwear’s current Anaheim headquarters, which employs 225 workers, is within three miles of the site.

The new corporate office will be a three-story, 180,000-square-foot structure, triple the size of the current headquarters. The planned 300,000-square-foot distribution center will be twice the size of the current center and large enough to service 1,200 stores.

Pacific Sunwear currently operates 559 PacSun and d.e.m.o stores. By the end of 2003, the company has said it expects to be operating about 1,000 stores nationwide.

The site was purchased from Boeing North American Fitness Inc.
