LAGUNA WOODS

More than 140 Laguna Woods residents attended the city’s two transportation open houses last week to discuss how to improve the city’s travel services. Most of the discussion centered on issues with Leisure World’s bus service, said Doug Reilly, the city’s administration services director.

Residents also voted on their top transportation needs, which included additional transportation to places outside the city, door-to-door service, evening services and a golf cart path through the city. The workshops also taught attendees about other local transportation programs.

City staff launched the seven-month study in July to learn about residents’ travel patterns and their transportation needs. The result will be a list of services and programs needed to improve existing services, which could be implemented depending on funding or outside grants. Information: (949) 452-0600.
