Red Cross Offers Several CPR Courses

The Ventura County Chapter of the American Red Cross will offer basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses throughout the county this month.

A four-hour course that teaches participants how to treat adults who are choking or who have cardiac emergencies or breathing problems will be offered in both day and night sessions. The cost for each class is $28.

Daytime classes will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as follows:

* Saturday at the Betty R. Plotkin Service Center at 836 Calle Plano, Camarillo.

* Oct. 14 at the Ventura Service Center at 2355 Portola Road.

* Oct. 21 at the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District at 1506 E. Burnley St. in Camarillo.

* Oct. 28 at the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 Janss Road.

An evening class will be held from 6 to 10, as follows:

* Tuesday at the Ventura Service Center.

In addition, a class on adult CPR that includes training in the use of automated external defibrillators will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at a cost of $48:

* Oct. 23 at the Ventura Service Center.

A more advanced course covering adult, child and infant CPR will be offered twice, at a cost of $38, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

* Oct. 20 at the Simi Valley Service Center, 1919 Williams St. #200.

* Oct. 28 at the Betty R. Plotkin Service Center.
