Maybe J.A. Stands for Just Asking (for Trouble)
J.A. Adande’s column of Oct. 2 is a shining example of the sad state of sports and sportswriting today. The putdown is more important than the touchdown. Winning isn’t fulfilling unless you belittle the loser. The games themselves aren’t entertaining without the arrogant sophomoric antics.
I, for one, am sick of it. I’m not looking for role models, simply for a few decent human beings. There’s something called sportsmanship, and there’s something called class.
Terrell Owens embarrassed his teammates, his team’s city and himself, but both he and J.A. Adande are clueless.

J.A. Adande is one of the scariest people on earth. That a columnist in a major newspaper would advocate taunting and poor sportsmanship is disturbing. But when he states that there is nothing wrong with these things and that anyone who thinks there is must have a problem--that is bone-chilling to the core.
