Less-Than-Stellar Restaurant Ratings

I continue to be puzzled by the ratings given by your lead restaurant reviewer, S. Irene Virbila. It has been many weeks since she has awarded three stars to a restaurant, let alone four stars. Aren’t there any restaurants in L.A. that she would judge excellent or better? Take the review that appeared on J.R.’s Bar-B-Que (Sept. 10). After comments such as “about as meaty as any I’ve had,” “potato salad is world class,” “remarkably tasty” and “J.R.’s has it all,” she deigns to award only 11/2 stars. Well, that’s what I’d give her for the quality and consistency of her reviews.
