Board members of the Garden Grove Unified School District voted last week to approve an annual application for about $23 million in state and federal funds.

The money will pay for class-size reduction, 10th-grade counseling, education about remaining drug-free and other programs through the 2000-01 school year.

Trustees also voted unanimously to approve an application for Early Intervention for School Success grants for Skylark Elementary School. The staff report said the EISS program is designed to help students, from kindergarten through second grade, who are academically at risk. Grant amounts range from $4,500 to $12,000. The district’s Anthony and Riverdale elementary schools participate in the program.
