Scores: Parents Missing
* Re “California Schools Show Big Gains in Test Scores,” Oct. 5: Academic Performance Index scores have a missing element, parental and family involvement. If parents truly cared about their children’s education, more would be involved. If our recent back-to-school night is any indicator, less than a third of the parents out there care enough to be involved. One must assume that most of the others will try to lay it all on the teachers and the public education system in general, instead of being there for their children.
