Nobel Prize Winner to Discuss the Future
A Nobel Prize-winning physics professor will visit Ventura College next week to share his views on the positive and negative technological possibilities of the future.
Walter Kohn of UC Santa Barbara will speak on the topic “Through a Glass Darkly: A Physicist’s Look into the Future” on Oct. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Kohn won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1998, received his PhD in physics from Harvard University and was founding director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the National Science Foundation.
Kohn has been a visiting scholar at universities around the world and has also been a consultant to major corporations.
The program is being presented by the Ventura College international studies program in cooperation with the UCSB Ventura Center and the UCSB global and international studies program.
The lecture is free and open to the public. The program will be held in the Ventura College Theater, 4667 Telegraph Road in Ventura.
