Event for Minority Entrepreneurs

The Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Committee and the U.S. Small Business Administration will co-host a day of workshops, networking and awards for minority entrepreneurs Oct. 16.

The event, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Century Plaza Hotel, coincides with Minority Enterprise Development Week events around the country. Entrepreneurs can also arrange one-on-one contract meetings through MBOC. Appointments can be scheduled through https://www.lamboc.org.

MBOC’s minority award recipients this year include Valverde Construction, for construction firm; C-Shore International, for exporter; Guy Brown Management, for manufacturer; Americade Home Health Agency, for service firm; and Oasis Office Products Inc., for supplier. The SBA’s awardees include John O. Lee of Ace Engineering Inc. for minority small-businessperson of the year; and Jerry H. Valenzuela of Valenzuela Engineering Inc. for graduate of the year from the SBA’s disadvantaged-business loan program.
