MISSION VIEJO

Share

Junior Girl Scout Troop 1202 spent the summer maintaining the garden and helping clean up the grounds of De Portola Elementary School in Mission Viejo, where they are fourth-graders.

Each troop member was assigned a week between June and September when she was responsible for the garden. The girls tended it three or four times a week, watering plants and pulling weeds.

The entire troop also cleaned up the campus after school ended in June and again in mid-August before classes began.

The troop took on the project to help fulfill the volunteer service requirement that is an integral part of the Girl Scout program.
