Santa Paula High Junior Picked for Conference

Santa Paula High School junior Liberado Jimenez was chosen to attend the annual League of United Latin American Citizens Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., which was held earlier this month. About 100 high school students from throughout the United States and Puerto Rico attended the event. During the conference, students received leadership training, discussed national policy issues that affect youth and visited the White House.

Grants Awarded to Local Artists’ Program * Focus on the Masters, a nonprofit educational program documenting many of the contemporary artists who reside in Ventura County, announced a series of grants it has received:

The Gould Family Foundation, $5,000, to support the upcoming FocusOnTheMasters.com Web site, which is scheduled to launch Jan. 1.

Jordan and Sandra Laby and San Buenaventura Foundation for the Arts, $5,000, to support FOTM’s Learning To See Youth Outreach program.

Procter & Gamble, $500 Employee Incentive Grant, to be used for operating expenses.
